The pandemic significantly impacted artists – especially people of color – and arts organizations.

Additionally, the pandemic exacerbated a crisis in housing and studio space for artists

Who should apply?

Organizations must:

- Offer public cultural programming as the primary mission/service and maintain year-round operations in Cambridge.
- Have a 501(c)3 designation with the Internal Revenue Service that is currently active.
- Be a fully cultural organization or a Cultural Affiliate.

- - Fully cultural organizations must be a Massachusetts-recognized 501(c)3 organization, and their primary mission must be to promote access, excellence, diversity, or education in the arts, humanities, or sciences.

- - Cultural Affiliates are semi-independent programs that operate under a noncultural parent organization. Their primary mission must be to promote access, excellence, diversity, or education in the arts, humanities, or sciences.

If your organization received funding from the 2023 Nonprofit Recovery Fund, you must provide proof of loss for a different period or different expenses.

What is CREATE Cambridge?

In 2022 The CREATE Cambridge Coalition applied for and received $500,000 in relief funding for the Arts & Culture Sector.

Starting December 2023 we will have an application process to allocate this money directly to the Cambridge arts, culture, and creative economy sector via a re-granting program.

A portion of the grant will also enable us to employ Cambridge-based artists and creatives to create a multi-media outreach campaign with Cambridge Community Television.

Coalition Members

Each organization represented in the Create Cambridge Coalition serves the Cambridge community at large, with a unified vision to dismantle obstacles for global majority community members and artists alike to access and authentically participate in year-round experiences.
